Hiker’s Reward
The climb was mostly uphill, like life itself. Oh, the trail flattened out at times, and there was even one downhill trot for a few waning moments, but mostly it was made of steps and incline. The cool and fresh fall air, muscles willing to be tested, and a spirit ready for adventure combined to produce a desire to continue. Nearing the end of the hike, switchbacks came into view, indicating that the steepest climb was reserved for last. As my head panned left, I was greeted by sunlight, water and beauty; essentials of life. Thank you Cascade Trail!
