Marsh Street Centre

The Marsh Street Community Centre was originally constructed in 1927 as the Clarksburg Hall. It had many uses over the next 70 years in addition to being the community hall where many people remember going to dances and listening to local bands. At one time it was turned into the Collingwood Township municipal offices and library and later became a military museum which closed when the government stopped funding small museums. in 1997 a coalition of arts groups and interested citizens purchased the property. They set up a formal board of directors and opened the building to the community. Before long, it was obvious that upgrades were needed to make the building more useable and the board set about fundraising. Half a million dollars were raised leading to the addition of new washrooms, entrances, a wheelchair lift and storage rooms. The Marsh Street Centre is available for rentals of the auditorium and meeting spaces. Ask about our kitchen and new patio! We also have various fundraising events throughout the year, including Saturday night dinners on the patio. Check out our website.
