Georgian Bay

Georgian Bay, part of Lake Huron, is a hotspot for anglers.  It’s a pretty big body of water and has been nicknamed "the sixth Great Lake", since it’s close in size to Lake Ontario. It harbours a good variety of fish, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, salmon, trout, walleye, sturgeon, catfish, pike and others.  Fish habitat is extensive with thousands of islands, inlets, points, saddles, reefs, shorelines and smaller bays, with up to 30 feet visibility in the crystal clear waters in some places.  Tobermory’s two harbours, Little and Big Tub, attract lake trout, whitefish and herring under their calm surface.

Lake Simcoe

Ontario’s most popular inland lake for fishing, Lake Simcoe, well known as an ice fishing destination, has terrific fishing year round.  Huge variety and the element of surprise make Lake Simcoe hard to beat during the warmer months. The variety of lake depths make it habitable for lake trout, whitefish, smallmouth bass, perch, largemouth bass, northern pike and a variety of panfish.  During July and August, young anglers can hook crappie, sunfish, rock bass and bullhead.  For spring perch, drop a line in Cook's Bay, the Atherley Narrows and in adjacent Lake Couchiching. Several marinas, both on Lake Simcoe itself and in adjoining rivers, offer launching services and access points to these great fishing areas.

Lake Huron

Lake Huron, third largest of the Great Lakes, is home to some of the most spectacular trophy fishing in Ontario, where you can fish for Chinook salmon or drop a line for rainbow, brown and lake trout.  Both small and largemouth bass dwell beneath the lake’s surface.  Spring fishing is excellent, with thousands of young jack salmon caught off the many surrounding piers.  Trout spring fishing focuses mainly at river mouths, with the Saugeen River a definite hotspot.
