Remember when you used to get the February blahs? Well it seems the Family Day long weekend has become the perfect antidote to those mid-winter blues. Across our region, there are special events, festivals and attractions that will keep your family entertained—both indoors and out. We’ve put together a list of what’s happening for Family Day 2020 in Bruce, Grey and Simcoe Counties.

Bruce County



MacGregor Point Provincial Park
February 15, 16 and 17

It’s a full weekend of fun at MacGregor Point Provincial Park on the shores of Lake Huron. Weather permitting the park has a skating loop and cross country ski and snowshoe trails for your family to explore. On Saturday, the Friends of MacGregor Point will be offering hot dogs and hot chocolate by donation and there’s a snowshoe hike at 2 p.m. Sunday, try the MacGregor Point Survivor Challenge and Sunday build a suet feeder to take home. Bruce County Museum
February 17

Family Weekend at Blue Mountain Village
Feb 15, 16 and 17
 

From groove dancing to magicians, snowshoe hikes to fireworks and the Blumination Dream Trail, there are plenty of reasons to head to Blue Mountain Village this Family Day weekend. Get the full lineup right here.

Snow Day in Moreston: Grey Roots Museum and Archives
February 15

Head to Grey Roots Museum and Archives for some snowy outdoor fun. Build a snow shelter with At Last Adventures, try out snowshoes with the Sydenham Bruce Trail Club and meet the Green Feet Dogsledding Team. Make a craft in the school house, try some snow science experiments and take part in a STEAM activity. It’s a full day of fun and all the details are right here.

Family Day at Cobble Beach
February 17

Head to Cobble Beach on the shores of Georgian Bay for a day of family fun. Roast smores over an open fire, snowshoe, ride a pony and get your face painted. Activities run from 11 a.m to 3 p.m and you can get all the info at this link.

Family day at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery
February 17

The Tom Thomson Art Gallery opens its doors for a day of family fun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Explore the exhibits via a scavenger hunt, make some art of your own and pick up a family membership for 50% off! Find out more right here.

Drysdale’s Family Day Outdoor Fun
February 15

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to Drysdale’s for outdoor family fun. Horse drawn wagon rides, face painting, scavenger hunt (with prizes), roast marshmallows over a bonfire, zipline, snowshoe and cross-country ski (bring your own gear) and outdoor games. Family Day at Horseshoe Resort
February 14, 15, 16 and 17

Not only can you hit the slopes at Horseshoe Resort, but they’ve also added a full lineup of Family Day activities. From interactive family shows to moonlight snowshoeing and kids crafts, there’s something for everyone. Check out the full schedule of events right here.

Wye Marsh
February 17

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular at the marsh, Family Day is a great opportunity to get outside. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wye Marsh welcomes you to cross-county ski and snowshoe, roast bannock, feed the chickadees and experience the Wet n’ Scaly and Birds of Prey demonstrations. Penetanguishene Winterama
February 14, 15, 16 and 17

The 72nd Annual Penetanguishene Winterama will keep your family hopping all weekend. Events include axe throwing, road hockey, snowmobile rides, ice skating, crokicurl, family fishing, fireworks and more. Get the full schedule right here. Wasaga Beach Snowman Mania
February 14, 15, 16 and 17


Not just a summer destination, Wasaga Beach hosts their 15th Annual Snowman Mania over the Family Day weekend. Head on over to Wasaga for a full lineup of family fun from bingo to ice skating and shinny, the Great Canadian Lumberjack Show, a chili cookoff and the President’s Choice Superdogs show. Simcoe County Musuem
February 17

Pack your skates, your sled and your family and head to the Simcoe County Museum for the perfect combination of outdoor and indoor fun. Try the skate trail, test your toboggan on our hill, snowshoe through the grounds. When you’re ready to head inside, hit the games room and check out the indoor galleries and our new travelling exhibit, Kids Celebrate! Family Day at the MacLaren Art Centre
February 17
