Wine, Beer, Cider & Spirits

It’s a little-known fact that BruceGreySimcoe is an up-and-coming wine region in Ontario.  With award-winning whites, reds and rosés, plus award-winning craft brews, ciders and spirits, the region is well on its way to being known for more than its beaches.  Take a tour of a winery, cidery or brewery.  Savour a meal or cheese platter and learn how to pair beverages with your food for the ultimate taste experience.  And, at the end of the day, sip your beverage of choice while relaxing on a patio overlooking a peaceful vista.

Mixing a bit of history with beverage production, The Saints & Sinners:  Bootleggers Run pocket map is the perfect guide to BruceGreySimcoe’s craft breweries, wineries and cideries.  Leave the driving to The Beer Bus and to the Ace Transportation Group with guided tours of wineries, breweries and cideries in the South Georgian Bay area.

Not surprisingly, several BruceGreySimcoe cideries can be found in Grey County, home of “apple country”. Their delicious and refreshing cider is made in whole or in part with locally grown apples, heritage apples or those grown on their own cidery grounds.  Cider is also produced at several wineries - Coffin Ridge, Georgian Hills and Hoity Toity.

Whisky, Gin & Vodka

The production of spirits is on the rise, too, as distillers source their base ingredients in BruceGreySimcoe. Canadian Mist and Collingwood Whisky both use the pure, clear water of Georgian Bay to create a uniquely Canadian taste.  They can be purchased at the LCBO. Beattie’s Distillers produce their Farm-Crafted Potato Vodka with their own farm-grown potatoes, which is distilled and bottled in Alliston.  It’s available in various LCBO locations. Water from Springwater Township makes up one of the base ingredients of the Georgian Bay Spirit Co.’s gin and award-winning vodka, both of which can be found at the LCBO.  Their popular Georgian Bay Gin Smash and Georgian Bay Vodka Smash are also sold through the LCBO.
