For outdoor enthusiasts, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor fun – snow tubing, snowshoeing, ice fishing (check ice conditions before heading out), cross-country skiing and sleigh rides. Barrie Winterfest, held in early February, takes place on Barrie’s waterfront with a variety of events and activities (check ahead for final event details).  
Prefer to spend your winter indoors? The Simcoe County Museum is open year-round, as is the MacLaren Art Centre, downtown shops and restaurants.
And, for craft beer lovers, a visit to Barrie totally needs to include a visit to Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, leader of the “Craft Beer Revolution”. Barrie is also home to the Redline Brewhouse and Barnstormer Brewing & Distilling Co.
