Downhill Ski Resorts

BruceGreySimcoe is downhill paradise with four ski resorts fortuitously located in Ontario’s “ski and snow belt”.  Added bonus - we’re close to major urban centres, a short drive for a day, a weekend or longer on the snowy slopes.  All of the resorts below offer lessons for all ages, as well as equipment rental.

  • Blue Mountain
Ontario’s largest mountain resort is located near Collingwood in The Blue Mountains. Blue is also Ontario’s only four-season mountain village resort and definitely the place to be for those who love to “#live it outside”.  Amenities include on-site accommodation and Blue Mountain Village with shopping, dining, events and attractions.
  • Horseshoe Resort
Nestled in Horseshoe Valley near Barrie, Horseshoe is smack dab in the centre of the snow belt and prides itself on its racing program.  Like Blue, accommodation is located right beside the ski hills, with restaurants, spa and family activities rounding out your getaway experience so you can “#dotheshoe” this winter.
  • Mount St. Louis Moonstone
#gowherethesnowis and head to this family-oriented ski resort near Barrie.
There’s childcare available at Mount St. Louis for ages three to five on weekends and holidays, plus lessons for this age group and up.  There’s no accommodation on-site, so check out what’s nearby.
  • Ski Snow Valley Barrie
@skisnowvalley caters to the family skiing experience, too.  Families with young children will find daycare for kids six months to five years old on weekends, during Christmas break and over March Break (reservations recommended), plus “Ski ‘n Play” programs for kids ages three to five all the way up to adult.

New to Downhill?  What to Expect

If you’ve never skied before, it can be a bit daunting to hit the slopes for the first time.  Never fear, help is at hand to ease you into this new and exciting winter sport. Our resorts have put together guides with useful information to assist you.  Included is information on what to wear, how to use the ski lift, ski hill etiquette and even where to park!  If you don’t own winter outerwear, Snow Valley can help with winter jacket and winter pant rentals.  There are also lessons available for first-timers.  Check out the links below to get started:

Stay Safe on the Slopes

Be sure to protect yourself from the winter sun by wearing sunscreen (even on cloudy days) and protect your eyes with goggles.  Ensure that your skiing experience is both enjoyable and safe by following these basic tips from the Ontario Snow Resorts Association:
