More and more destinations are realizing this and adjusting their offerings so dog lovers can bring their best friends along for the trip. BruceGreySimcoe has an impressive number of parks, accommodations and eateries who will welcome your pooch with open paws. We’ve compiled a list of dog-friendly destinations across the region. Bring Fido website and mobile app 

If you're planning on travelling with your dog, then downloading the Bring Fido app is a great first step. Bring Fido allows you to search by location for accommodations, restaurants and activities that are dog friendly. You can also make reservations directly through the app. With so many new furry family members finding new homes in recent years, the need for pet-friendly options continues to grow and Bring Fido makes it easy to see what's in your destination. 

Bruce County


Dog-friendly Accommodations in Bruce County

If you're looking for dog-friendly accommodations in Bruce County there are a few to choose from. The Peninsula Motel in Wiarton, Cedar Vista Hotel in Tobermory, Big Tub Bed and Breakfast in Tobermory, Mermaid's Boutique Guest House in Tobermory, Summer House Park in Miller Lake, Sutton Park Inn in Kincardine and Save Inn in Kincardine.

Bruce County Dog-friendly Attractions 

Bruce Peninsula National Park allows dogs in picnic areas, at campsites and on trails . The Chi-Cheemaun Ferry allows dogs on board. Dogs may remain in your vehicle during transit or can be outside within designated areas on the decks. 

Bruce County Dog Parks and Dog Beaches 

The municipality of Saugeen Shores allows dogs on two local beaches: The North of Saugeen River Beach Access and the North Shore Park Beach Access.  Dogs are also allowed on the waterfront between October 1 and April 30 provided they are on a leash. The Saugeen Shores Off-Leash Dog Park in Port Elgin is located at 961 Lehren Street. This off-leash dog park is fully-fenced and open from dusk til dawn.

South Bruce Peninsula has three dog parks in Wiarton, Sauble Beach and Oliphant. Get details on locations and rules. Huron-Kinloss has a dog park in Point Clark

The Tobermory Community Park is next door to The Meeting Place (20 Centennial Drive, Tobermory) and has picnic tables, community gardens, off-leash fenced dog park with agility course, outdoor fitness equipment, walking paths, and a skatepark. 

Our friends at Explore the Bruce have named five area beaches as dog-friendly destinations: Lion’s Head Beach, MacGregor Point Provincial Park, Inverhuron Provincial Park, Kincardine Station Beach and Point Clark Beach (on leash). While dogs are not allowed on Sauble Beach during the summer months, they are allowed after Labour Day until June 1 each year


Grey County

The folks at Grey County Tourism put together a great blog The Dog Days of Summer in Grey that offers suggestions about must-visit dog-friendly spots in the county and tips on keeping your dog happy and healthy during the summer months. Be sure to stop by the Owen Sound Leash-Free Dog Park by the harbour and grab a pint after at nearby Mudtown Station where your pup is welcome on the patio. Copper Blues Bar and Grill at Blue Mountain Village has a paws-itively amazing dog offering. Check out their Pup 'n Patio menu available on their pet-friendly patio. Order yourself a great dinner and order a beef bowl with peas and brown rice for your pup. 

The Municipality of Meaford  


The home of famed literary canine Beautiful Joe, Meaford has made a name for itself as a dog-friendly destination, becoming one of the first certified pet-friendly communities in Canada. In homage to the best-selling author Margaret Marshall Saunders, the Beautiful Joe Society built and maintains Beautiful Joe Park, an 8.5-acre park with trails for dog walking and the Bighead River running through it. Nearby Memorial Park has an off-leash dog beach, and allows off-leash dogs on the trails in the park from November until April. Also in town, there’s the Beautiful Joe Leash-Free Dog Park, a fenced-in spot for pups to play together under the watchful eye of their owners. On Saturday, September 23, Beautiful Joe's Annual Pooch Pool Party takes place at the Blue Dolphin pool. This free event lets dogs take over the public pool for the day before it closes for the season. 

The Leeky Canoe Pub and Eatery has recently unveiled a dog-friendly Pawtio menu that includes a beef lovers dinner and pupsicles.

Thornbury, Ontario

Collingwood, Ontario

The Blue Mountain Inn welcomes your four-legged friends for a $50 one-time fee per pet per say. The fee includes a comfy dog bed (in small, medium or large sizes), dog food and water dishes, dog treats and waste disposal bags all provided at check-in. The Westin Trillium House
Collingwood, Ontario 

Stay in style at the Westin Trillium House with your furry friend. Two dogs under 40lbs are welcome for no additional fee with dog beds and bowls provided at the front desk. 

Bowering Lodge 

Located in the Beaver Valley, Bowering Lodge is a great basecamp for outdoor activities with your furry friend. Their Whispering Pines Suite is pet friendly and you can get all the details

Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery

Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery welcomes four-legged friends among the vineyards and outdoor seating areas. Due to health regulations, dogs are not permitted on the patios or inside the Tasting Bar. Service animals always excepted.
