Wasaga Beach

Exciting and lively Wasaga Beach conjures up thoughts of Beach Boy tunes and rocking summer fun.  The secret is out – it’s a great fall destination too with kilometres of beach to walk, trails to hike, the “Notty” to paddle and courses to golf.  It’s a little-known fact that the beach – all 14 kilometres of it – is part of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.  And, although it’s a day-use only park, it has awesome activities all year long.  The Nancy Island Historic Site (open weekends from September 7th to October 13th), which played a role in the War of 1812, is also located within the park.  Wasaga is the perfect setting for the annual Stonebridge Wasaga Beach Blues, September 13th to 15th, with acts spread out at local venues and two main stages.
If you love to paddle, this is the fall destination for you.  Download your guide to the historic Nottawasaga River or book a guided adventure with Free Spirit Tours or Eagle Adventure Experiences.  Both have rentals, lessons and a wealth of paddling info to share.  Take a hike or cycle one of Wasaga’s many trails, and stroll with the family along the “Storybook Trail”, a fun blend of reading, nature and walking.  With warm temps often lingering into September, you may even be able to spend a day at the beach!
