Catherine Smart has been providing a blend of creating opportunities for and with persons with a disability and professional coaching and project management for over twenty-five years. Her accomplishments include starting the first integrated sailing school in Canada called Independence Afloat teaching both children and adults in 1980. She created and facilitated many innovative programs in the areas of recreation, outdoor education and travel for fourteen years with the Ontario March of Dimes. In addition, she launched a new department with Tourism Toronto - Toronto's Convention and Visitor's Association working with members and key stakeholders setting the foundation to better receive tourists with a disability.
Catherine is currently the Chair of the Canadian Standards Association B-651 Accessible Design for the Built Environment Committee and assisted with the development of the B-480 Customer Service Standard. In addition, she sits on the County of Grey Accessibility Advisory Committee for Persons with a Disability. She is also the Past President of the Town of the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce. Catherine has facilitated hundreds of customer service awareness sessions and physical access audits including hotels, restaurants; major attractions; camps; outdoor education centres; schools; banking institutions and corporations. She is called on regularly to provide addresses with regard to accessibility issues. Smart Move Training and Development Inc. works in accordance with the standards associated with the AODA.(Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act).
Catherine has been coaching for several years. She completed a recognized coach training program with Coaches Training Institute in 2006. Catherine uses her passion for people along with her intuition and work/life experience encouraging endless possibility through discovery! She currently operates a practice in the Town of the Blue Mountains along with coaching in the corporate sector.
Catherine is the Founder and President of Smart Move Training and Development Inc. providing expertise in the areas of project management, accessibility solutions and professional coaching.
