Mountain Biking

Check before you go! Some of our mountain bike trails and operators are closed for the 2020 season due to COVID-19.  Whether you're planning a daytrip or a multi-day adventrue, plan ahead, call ahead and book ahead where applicable.

Many operators are running at reduced capacity or are closed for the season due to COVID-19.  When in BruceGreySimcoe, follow social distancing protocols, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently.

There’s no bigger rush than a downhill ride on a track in BruceGreySimcoe!  Emily Batty, Canadian Olympian, can vouch for that.  She loves to hit the trails here when she gets the chance to return to where she learned how to ride – check out the video to watch her experience.
From the rush of downhill riding at Blue Mountain (mountain bike trails currently closed due to COVID-19) to the many gnarly single track rides for the experienced rider, to cruising the easier trails of the region’s conservation areas and provincial parks, this is mountain biking heaven.
The tagline “where locals ride” pretty much says it all. Bruce County certainly delivers with 12,500 acres of awesome cycling wilderness, all of it free to access. Splash through rivers, over roots and around rocks, surrounded by fall colours and crisp cool air.  Strap on your helmet and safety gear, hop on your bike and then you’re good to go!
There’s plenty of unique and fun experiences to try, too. Mix it up a bit on the Apple Pie Trail’s “Pedal & Paddle the Blue Mountains” Adventure (gondola ride included).  And, don’t forget the Bike Park (currently closed due to COVID-19) at Blue Mountain with gnarly trails for the ultimate downhill ride.
If you’re looking for other routes and itinerary options, be sure to check out Cycle Simcoe and Ontario By Bike, which also features a handy list of bike-friendly restaurants, shops and accommodation in Bruce County-Southwest, Grey and Simcoe Counties.
As fall heads into the snowier months of winter, there’s no need to put away your wheels! Both Hardwood and Horseshoe feature Fat Bike trails so avid mountain bikers can hit the trails all year long.  Hardwood’s Fat Bike trails are only open Monday to Friday, no weekends. At Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, fat bike rentals are available until Thanksgiving weekend (please check ahead in 2020).
Before heading out onto any of our trails, be sure to wear the proper safety equipment, including a helmet, for your ride.
