Other Tours

Venture beyond the traditional bike routes by adapting other BruceGreySimcoe tours and trails for your next cycling adventure.  Pay homage to one of Canada’s iconic artists by riding the Tom Thomson trail (suitable for mountain or hybrid bikes), running between Owen Sound and Meaford.

Break the route down into sections and indulge your green thumb with a visit to the Rural Gardens of Grey and Bruce Counties.   Download the Simcoe County Barn Quilts map to view some - or all - of the over 150 barn quilts throughout the county.

Branch out and book an Apple Pie Trail adventure!  The 14 km Thornbury Sticky Bun Loop starts at the Thornbury Bakery with trail stops for this fun and yummy trail along the loop.  Cycle back in time along the Heart of Georgian Bay’s Historical Cycling Route, featuring the area’s historic gems including Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, the Wye Marsh and the Martyrs’ Shrine (be sure to check ahead for hours). Cycle Simcoe has other awesome routes to choose from on its website, too.

Humdinger Bicycle Tours offers some pretty cool multi-day options. Spend six days and five nights exploring Port Elgin, the Bruce Peninsula and South Georgian Bay on this supported, self-guided tour.  Another fun option is the Pedal, Pints & Pubs Orillia 2 Day Tour.

Several accommodators and operators, such as Bayview Wildwood Resort and Horseshoe Resort, feature offers and packages geared for cyclists of all levels, including beginners.  Check out more packages at Cycle and Stay - South Georgian Bay.  Cycle Simcoe and Ontario By Bike both have info on routes, packages, accommodators and bike-friendly businesses in Bruce County-SouthwestGrey and Simcoe counties.

Did you know? Cyclists are welcome on the ferry, the MS Cheemaun, which transports vehicles, passengers and, yes, bikes, between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island. Follow the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail along Lake Huron and all the way up to Tobermory to catch the ferry. You can also follow the trail from the north, across Manitoulin Island and access the ferry from South Baymouth too.

It’s easy to customize your route in BruceGreySimcoe.  Cycle to farmers' markets, museums, parks, downtowns, rail trails, historic sites and more…
