Fall Fishing Charters in BruceGreySimcoe

Sep 06, 2019
Quieter lakes, less boat traffic, stunning fall colours and plenty of fish waiting to be caught: Fall is a fantastic time to go fishing in BruceGreySimcoe. If you didn’t make it out on one of our top-notch fishing charters this summer, there’s still time to make it happen this autumn. We caught up with several of our operators to ask what they’re catching in the fall and why they think hitting the water this September/October is a good idea. Read on and hear what they had to say. Then pick a weekend (or if you’re even luckier a weekday) and book the charter you’ve been dreaming of today!

Happy Go Fishing Charters
Lake Simcoe, Ontario

How can you go wrong with a name like Happy Go Fishing? Callum Johnson loves to fish and it shows. Operating on Lake Simcoe, Johnson says the waters are known for hosting the biggest smallmouth bass in the world—and they are even bigger in the fall months, making the chances of catching a trophy fish even greater!

“September is a fantastic time for Lake Trout and Smallmouth Bass fishing then in October and even into November we are targeting Smallmouth Bass or Yellow Perch,” explains Johnson.  “Fall fishing is great because the lake is quiet with less pleasure boaters out and the fall colours are always beautiful to see from the lake. Fishing is fantastic during the fall because the Smallmouth Bass are heavily feeding packing on weight to prepare them for winter similar to a bear preparing for hibernation.”

Dwindle’s Dream Fishing Charters

One of the few BruceGreySimcoe charter’s that operates on Lake Huron, Dwindle’s Dream Fishing Charters depart from Kincardine under the guidance of owner Rick Dwinell.

“Our family fishing charter service operates on the clean waters of Lake Huron off the shores of beautiful Kincardine, Ontario,” explains Dwinell. “We target Chinook, Coho Salmon, Rainbow, Brown and Lake Trout. A few incidental catches have included Pink Salmon, Walleye and Perch.

During the fall our catch consists mostly of Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout and some Salmon. Fall fishing can be excellent as more Rainbow Trout arrive in our area and Salmon stage to enter the Lake Huron tributary rivers.”

Dwindle’s Dream operates 7 days a week into mid-October, but warns there are high winds in October and trout season closes October 1st.

Captain Tony R. Degasperis is ready and waiting to take you fishing aboard Action Fishing Adventures in Owen Sound. “Many of my clients enjoy the weather, less boat traffic and view of colours on trees while fishing on my boat,” says Degasperis. “Fall fishing is focused on bright silver Steelhead-Rainbow Trout.  Large numbers of them come inshore and into Owen Sound bay. They run the rivers and many stay out in lake waiting "staging" for spring run in March. The Fall Steelhead-Rainbow Trout are the best to eat of the year having the summer to fatten up and get healthy. They also make great Sushi.”
